On the scene - Locating the evidence

Once the crime scene has been secured, investigators begin the next stage of the process.

CSI's carefully examine the scene to try and establish exactly what happened and where. The crime scene is documented with written descriptions, photographs, video, iPIX and sketch.

No matter how large the crime scene is, investigators will make a thorough search of the whole area.

CSI’s  will look for anything that helps investigating officers reconstruct the events that have taken place, including toolmarks left from a forced entry, footprints left by an intruder, or blood stains or spatters.
