Joint Diversity & Equality Annual Monitoring Report 2016.

Northumbria Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) have a duty to make sure equality and diversity is at the heart of policing, for both communities and staff.

The Equality Act 2010 places responsibility on public bodies to consider all individuals when carrying out their functions. The Force and the PCC are therefore required to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations between different groups when carrying out their activities.

We also have a duty to publish equality objectives and information to demonstrate compliance with the Equality Act. Equality information is monitored on a daily basis to assist in the identification and elimination of gaps in the service provided to our communities and staff.

A joint report has been produced to show the information collected and work undertaken in 2016 to help develop and improve our services, including our plans for future development. (See links below). The next report will be published in early 2018.
