Every year Northumbria Police runs a series of campaigns to keep the public informed about what we are doing.
It is important the public are kept informed about what we are doing and why, and we use a number of different methods to get our messages across.
These include articles in the media, outdoor advertising such as billboards, radio advertising, information on this website and direct mail to households.
Some campaigns run every year and are probably very familiar, like drink-driving initiatives which run each summer and Christmas.
Other campaigns can be based on what people tell us concerns them, such as knife crime.
We also use the information and statistics we gather ourselves to help us focus on current and future crime trends, for example the possible rise in burglaries and thefts due to the current economic downturn.
