Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act') 

Thank you for your e mail dated 31 August 2016 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police. 

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions. 

You asked:

1.How many burglaries have been reported in your force area in 13-14, 14-15, 15-16? 

2.How many of those reports have led to people being summonsed or charged 

3. How many remain open investigations?

 

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention. 

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police. 

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

1. This information is based on the total number of recorded burglary offences (dwelling and other than dwelling)

2013/14 - 8338

2014/16 - 7584

2015/16 - 8216

 

2. This information is based on the above crimes resolved via a charge/summons.

2013/14 - 1221

2014/15 - 1001

2015/16 - 891

 

3. This information is based on how many of the the above crimes are still open ie  awaiting decision, further enquiries etc.
