Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 24th July 2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

The people proceeded against by nationality for the period 01/05/2011 to 01/05/2012 with the data broken down into the nine major offence types - violence against the person, sexual offences, robbery, burglary, theft and handling, fraud or forgery, criminal damage, drugs, other notable offences.

For people proceeded against, broken down by nationality for the period 01/05/2011 to 01/05/2012 could you further break the date for the following categories:

Careless or inconsiderate driving
Causing death by dangerous driving
Criminal damage to a vehicle
Dangerous driving
Driving under the influence of drink or drugs
Driving while an unlicensed or uninsured driver
Theft or unauthorised taking of motor vehicle
Theft from a vehicle
Vehicle/driver document fraud
All vehicle crime

If providing the table according to the above dates is not possible please provide the most recent annual figures that you are able to collate.

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you as follows.

The results for this request are based on the number of people arrested between 01/05/2011 and 01/05/2012 who have been Charged, on Bail, Cautioned or given Warning etc.

The information we have supplied to you is likely to contain intellectual property rights of Northumbria Police.  Your use of the information must be strictly in accordance with the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988 (as amended) or such other applicable legislation.  In particular, you must not re-use this information for any commercial purpose.
