Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 7 July  2014 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

1. For each year for the last 4 financial years (2010/11 - 2013/14) – how many domestic violence related incidents have been reported to your force?
 
2. For each year for the last 4 financial years (2010/11 - 2013/14 ) – how were those incidents dealt with. Please give figures for the number of incidents resulting in someone being charged, someone being cautioned – and where there was no further action.
 
3. For the current financial year (2014/15) what is the budgeted staff allocation (i.e. the number of posts funded) in the force’s specialist domestic violence unit/team? Please give a breakdown of the posts.
 
4. On Thursday, June 19th 2014:
 
i, How many officers were actually in post in the force’s specialist domestic violence unit/team?
 
ii, Over a 24 hour period that captures activity on June 19th, 2014, how many officers were rostered for duty in the specialist domestic violence unit/team? Please give a breakdown of the roles.*
 
iii, Over a 24 hour period that captures activity on June 19th, 2014, how many officers were on duty in the specialist domestic violence unit/team? Please give a breakdown of the roles.*

 

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Crime Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you as follows.

3. Please note that  Officers duties relate to both domestic abuse and rape.  The information requested is as follows:

2 x Detective Inspectors
8 x  Detective Sergeants 
48 x Detective Constables

i) 51 officers in post as of that date.
ii) 24 officers rostered
iii) 24 officers performed duty

Due to the different methods of recording information across 43 forces, a specific response from one constabulary should not be seen as an indication of what information could be supplied (within cost) by another.  Systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the data.  For this reason responses between forces may differ, and should not be used for comparative purposes.

How to complain
