Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

Thank you for your e mail dated 25 January 2017 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police. 

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions. 

You asked:

Since the ban on so called ‘legal highs’ came into force in May 2016, could you tell me

1. Total arrests for possession of synthetic drugs.

2. Total arrests for possession of synthetic drugs with intent to supply/supply.

3. If possible, please could you also provide a breakdown into arrests for possession/supply of different types of synthetic drugs.

4.I would like to request the most recent figures (possibly for first six months of 2016/17) for overall arrests for possession of controlled drugs

5. and separately supply offences relating to controlled drugs.

Just to clarify - I am referring to offences under the Psychoactive Substances Act.

 

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention. 

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the  Corparate Development Department  of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
