Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

Thank you for your e mail dated 8 May  2016 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police. 

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

1. How many children under the age of criminal responsibility (under 10) committed a crime in your force area for the financial year of 2014/15

2. How many children under the age of criminal responsibility (under 10) committed a crime in your force area for the financial year of 2015/16

3. What were the ages of the children under the age of criminal responsibility (under 10) who committed a crime for the financial year of 2014/15

4. What were the ages of the children under the age of criminal responsibility (under 10) who committed a crime  for the financial year of 2015/16

5. What crimes were committed by children under the age of criminal responsibility (under 10) for the financial year of 2014/15

6. What crimes were committed by children under the age of criminal responsibility (under 10)  for the financial year of 2015/16

7. How many Local Child Curfew's were handed out to children under the age of criminal responsibility (under 10)  for the financial year of 2014/15

8. How many Local Child Curfew's were handed out to children under the age of criminal responsibility (under 10)  for the financial year of 2015/16 

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention. 

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted within Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police. 

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

1.- 6.

The information provided in response to these questions is the total number of children that have committed a crime. The total number of crimes is fewer as there are sometimes multiple offenders per crime.

There may be children who have offended more than once, multiple crimes, in a financial year, these are included.

In some cases the offenders date of birth was not recorded but where an approximate age was, these have been included.

With the above in mind please see the attached which answers your query.

7&8.  No information held. We are unable to locate any such instances.
