Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)
Thank you for your email dated 9 August 2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
I request to know How many Police officers currently have POLICE property Iphones and Blackberry mobile telephones
I request to know How much per annum is spent by northumbria police on Mobile telephone bill's (From first of january 2011 till 09/08/12)
I request to know how many Northubria police Iphones and Blackberrys were Lost and or stolen between 1st january 2011 till
I requst to know what criteria is required for an officer to be given a police iphone and or blackberry mobile phone "
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the ICT Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you as follows.
£340,271.62 This includes rental, call charges and hardware (including all other types of mobile phone held, not just blackberry and Iphone) costs forcewide from Jan 2011 to the end of July 2012, which is the nearest available data.
7 Blackberry devices. In all cases, and in accordance with Force procedures, steps were taken to securely remote wipe the data so that it could not be viewed by anyone finding the device.
It is the responsibility of individual senior management teams to determine which staff in their respective departments and Area Commands are entitled to have them. This decision will be based on a sound business need.
The information we have supplied to you is likely to contain intellectual property rights of Northumbria Police.
