Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 4 November  2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

"I would like to apply under FOI laws for details of any

  1. Sponsership deals

  2. Gifts to the force

In the last two fianncial years including, where possible, the value of the sponsorship or gift , who it is fron, what it has been used for and any conditions placed on it."

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Finance Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I have decided to disclose the located information to you as follows.

  1. Please see the document attached below which provides details of sponsorship arrangement for the 2011/12 and 2010/11 financial years.

    As the information with regards to 2012/12 is accessible by other means I have not provided you with a copy of the information and will rely on Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.  You should therefore consider this a refusal for your request.

    I have provided an explanation to this exemption below.

    Section 21 (1) - Information accessible by other means

    Information which is reasonably accessible to the applicant is exempt information.

  2. Please note that the information requested at this point of your request is collated by calendar years in arrears.  Therefore, as the information with regards to 2009 to 2011 is accessible by other means I have not provided you with a copy of the information and will rely on Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.  You should therefore consider this a refusal for your request.
