Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 27 February  2014 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

I would be grateful if you could supply me with an annual breakdown over the last five years (2009-2014) of the following information:

  1. Number of firearms license applications made to Northumbria Police in the last five years 

  2. Number of firearms license applications approved in the last five years 

  3. Number of firearms license applications denied in the last five years 

  4. Reasons for denied applications highlighted in category 3

  5. Number of shotgun license applications made to Northumbria Police in the last five years 

  6. Number of shotgun license applications approved in last five years 

  7. Number of shotgun license applications denied in last five years 

  8. Reasons for denied applications highlighted in category 7

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Firearms Licensing Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
