Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 17 July 2013 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

Freedom of Information Request - Newcastle Late Night Levy

I write to request information in relation to Newcastle City Council's recently agreed proposal to introduce a Late Night Levy in the City under section 125 of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011.
 
The Council's Late Night Levy Consultation document suggests that Northumbria Police have calculated that it costs £1.8 million per annum to police the Night Time Economy  between midnight and 6am within Newcastle City centre.
 
I would be grateful if you could provide a copy of all the information, documents and other materials used by Northumbria Police to calculate this figure.

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Newcastle Area Command  of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you as follows. The figures were arrived at using the following calculation:

Cost of Officers in City Centre (00:00 - 06:00) 1,390,000
Cost of Custody 300,000
Cost of Vehicles 20,000
Cost of Communications/Camera Operations 90,000
