Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)
Thank you for your email dated 2nd February 2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
Regarding the parking issues at West End First School, Bedlington which is situated on B113.
Please could you provide me with details of the following:
What measures do you take to help control the problem?
Do you receive a particular number of complaints from residents before you patrol the area?
Any accident figures for that particular stretch of road?
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with Northumberland Area Command. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held in part by Northumbria Police.
I have decided to disclose the located information to you as follows.
The measures taken to control the problem include regular attendance outside of the school by Neighbourhood Beat Manager officers and Community Support Officers. Officers can issue Fixed Penalty Notices to offending vehicles/drivers and Community Support Officers issue Advisory Warning Notices. If the problem intensifies liaison with the school can be undertaken which will lead to letters being sent to all parents. The last recorded complaint for parking was from 6 October 2010.
There is no need for a certain number of complaints to be received before patrols will be instigated. Where an issue is raised with the Neighbourhood Team it will be assessed and actions put in place, this can be done after only one report.
Please note that the Tyne and Wear Traffic and Accident Data Unit (TADU) carry out the statistical function on behalf of Northumbria Police and they may be able to assist you with your request. In order to aid and assist you, we have provided contact details below:-
