Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 11 November 2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

I wish to apply for data relevant to the Police speed check undertaken on Monday 22 October 2012 at 09.15 until 09.30. This took place on Westbourne Avenue Walkergate, Newcastle upon Tyne.
 
The information I request is the number of vehicles stopped and speeds recorded exceeding the mandatory speed limit of 20 MPH.

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with both the Operations Department and the Newcastle Area Command of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is not held by Northumbria Police.

As per your previous similar requests, FOIs 470/12, 446/12, 724/11 our response remains the same.  We do not hold this information.  These are interactive signs only and are deployed to advise motorists.  They are not configured to record volume and speeds.  There is also no requisite upon operators or individuals to record and retain data of speed and volume of vehicles.

 

 

You may be interested to know that Northumbria Police routinely publish information that has been disclosed by Northumbria Police in response to requests made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 via the Disclosure Log.  The aim of the Disclosure Log is to promote openness and transparency by voluntarily placing information into the public arena.
