Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 30 November 2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

For the last 2 calendar years:

  1. How many police officers have been caught speeding in the past two years?

  2. How many police officers have been caught going through a red light in the past two years?

  3. Out of these offences how many tickets were issued?

  4. How many of these incidents were recorded when police were dealing with emergency calls?

  5. How many members of the general public have been caught speeding in the past two years?

  6. How many have been caught going through a red light in the past two years?

  7. Out of these offences how many tickets were issued?

To clarify for police officers I mean both on and off duty, and given as seperate figures.

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the both the Professional Standards Department and the Fixed Penalty Unit of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you as follows

Please note,  the 'on duty' activations have occurred when police officers have been attending emergency calls.
