Operation Sanctuary update - 112 arrested and 19 charged

This is an update in relation to Operation Sanctuary.

Police have made one further charge as part of the operation.

Bahmani Ahmadi, 22, of Hampstead Road, Newcastle, has been charged with inciting a female under 16 to engage in a sexual act. He is due before Newcastle Magistrates' Court this morning.

This brings the total number of charges to 19.

The total number of people arrested stands at 112.

One person has been reported for summons in relation to a sexual assault.

One person has appeared at court and the case has been finalised.

Officers continue to work with partners to speak to all the complainants to establish the circumstances and provide appropriate support.

Police are asking everyone to continue to be vigilant and report any information they have or incidents they have concerns about to officers.
