Man's nose bitten in assault

Police have arrested a man following an assault in which another man had his nose bitten.

At just before 6am, on Saturday, January 3, police received a report that a man had a section of his nose bitten off during an assault in Gateshead.

The attack is believed to have happened outside in the Saint Cuthbert's Drive area of Felling.

The 18-year-old was taken to the RVI for treatment where he remains awaiting surgery for his injury.

As a result of enquiries, a 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit GBH. He is currently in police custody.

Enquiries into the assault are continuing and police are keen to speak to any witnesses.
