Spate of car damages in Washington

Police are appealing for witnesses after a series of tyre damages in Washington.

Between Friday, January 2, and Monday, January 5, ten cars had their tyres punctured by vandals.

The cars were parked in the Mandeville, Langdale, Swirral Edge, Hertburn Gardens, Cotswold Close areas.

Enquiries are ongoing into the damages and officers are appealing for information.

Neighbourhood Inspector Paul Stewart said: "We believe these offences have taken place sometime between the Friday and the Monday and have happened overnight.

"We want to speak to anyone who has seen anybody suspicious in the areas where the damages took place, especially anyone seen hanging around cars.

"I'd also ask anyone with private CCTV in these areas to check their footage and see if anything has been caught on camera. If you think you have any information that could help us then please get in touch.

"We have extra officers in the area carrying out patrols and speaking to local residents. I'd urge anyone with any information to speak to officers face to face or by ringing 101."
