Appeal after bike stolen

Police are appealing for information after a bike was stolen in Newcastle.

It happened about 4.45pm on Tuesday, January 6, at Netherby Drive, when a bike belonging to a paperboy delivering to a house was stolen.

The bike is a distinctive red and black Saracen 16-inch frame mountain bike with 29-inch wheels and red spokes. The rear reflector has been snapped off.

Any witnesses to the theft or anyone who knows the whereabouts of the stolen bike is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference 762 06/01/15, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The appeal comes during Northumbria Police's Operation Soundwave, aimed at tackling opportunist thieves and burglars across the force and promoting crime prevention advice to residents.
