Collision in Cramlington

Update 12.10pm

Acyclist has been taken to hospital following a collision in Northumberland.

At 6.04am on Monday, January 12, police received a report that a cyclist had been struck by a Mercedes Sprinter van at Dudley Lane in Cramlington. The man aged in his 40s has been taken to the RVI for treatment to serious injuries.

A section of the road was closed for almost four hours to allow for vehicle recovery and investigation.

The driver of the van, a man aged 60, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and is currently in custody helping with enquiries.

Police are currently dealing with a collision in Cramlington.

At 6.04am on Monday, January 12, police received a report that a cyclist had been struck by a car at Dudley Lane in Cramlington. He has been taken to the RVI for treatment.

A section of the road is closed with diversions in place and access to the Learning Centre is currently restricted.

Those attending are asked to park at Highburn Estate, Southfield Green and Barnes Park. Police are in the area to facilitate and monitor the situation.
