Four arrested after attempted shop robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses after a shop robbery in Northumberland.

It happened at 6.22pm on Sunday, January 11, when a man went into Vermas general dealers at Durban Street in Blyth. A staff member was assaulted during the robbery and was treated at hospital for minor injuries. The suspect made off empty handed.

Following enquiries, four men (aged 24, 20, 19, 19) were arrested nearby on suspicion of attempted robbery. They are currently in custody helping with enquiries.
