Police investigating three robberies in North Tyneside have made an arrest.

North Tyneside Area Command Superintendent Sharon Stavers said: "There's no place for threats or violence in our community and I'd like to reassure people that a man has been arrested in connection with three recent robberies and is helping with police enquiries.

"Spates of serious offences taking place in this area in such a short space of time is quite unusual, and we recognise the impact serious crimes like robbery have on a community. We're working closely with local businesses throughout North Tyneside to help deter such offences.

"Extra patrols continue to take place to reassure residents and keep people informed."

Police are appealing for witnesses to the robberies to contact them on 101 ext 69191, or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
