Appeal to trace potential victims

Police are appealing for help to trace the victims of a potential theft in Newcastle.

At 2am this morning, Friday, January 16, police on patrol were flagged down by two men who had been chasing another two men, claiming they had stolen their money.

Officers took over the pursuit and arrested two men aged 29 and 28 on suspicion of theft, they are currently in custody helping with enquiries.

However, the two potential victims had left the area before speaking to police about the incident.

Officers are appealing for these two men to come forward so they can speak to them about what happened. They had ran after the suspects down St Nicholas Street and on to the High Level Bridge where they stopped to flag down the officers.
