Attempted arson in Blyth

Police are appealing for information after an attempted arson incident in Blyth.

Between 3:30am and 3:40am on Saturday, January 17, police received a report that someone had thrown a bottle at a premises in The Oval damaging a window.

Officers attended and the bottle was found to contain a liquid believed to be an accelerant. A further two bottles were found in the surrounding area, both also containing the liquid.

The items have been seized by police and enquiries are ongoing. Extra officers will be in the area on Saturday to speak to residents and carry out reassurance patrols.

Detectives are treating this incident as an attempted arson and anyone with any information is asked to contact them on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference number 213 170115.
