Police are advising concert-goers to take care of their mobiles when they go to see Slipknot in concert.

The band are playing at Newcastle Metro Radio Arena tonight, Monday, January 19.

Recent gigs in Sheffield and Dublin have seen more than 50 mobile phones reported as lost or stolen at both events and police are keen to prevent this happening here.

Tonight there will be high visibility uniform patrols for the event in the area, as well as plain clothes officers, to deter offenders and reassure concert-goers.

Police advice includes never leaving phones or other property, such as purses and wallets, unattended on tables, chairs or in coats or handbags left on the back of chairs.
