Police hosted a busy drop-in session at Waves Leisure Centre in Whitley Bay recently.

Local Neighbourhood Beat Manager, PC Paul Mckenzie, came along to the centre at The Links, on Saturday, January 24, and gave crime prevention advice to swimmers and other people attending the North Tyneside gym.

PC Mckenzie said: "These informal drop-in sessions are a good opportunity for residents of all ages to have a chat to a police officer about any local issues or concerns and to pick up some crime prevention advice at the same time.

"I spoke to a number of people during the session and discussed a wide range of issues including, advice to residents about home security and how to prevent being taken in by bogus callers.

"I was also asked about how we are dealing with anti-social behaviour in the local area and problems about parking were also discussed.

"We're always keen to talk to residents and find out more about the issues that matter to them."
