Aggravated burglary in Sunderland

Police are appealing for information after an aggravated burglary in Sunderland.

The burglary happened at 5.50am, on Tuesday January 27, at the Gleneagles pub, on Gleneagles Road.

Two men went into the address, armed with a iron bar and demanded money.

The resident of the pub suffered a head injury during the incident which is not believed to be life-threatening. He was transferred to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment.

One man, aged 42, has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and is helping police with their enquiries.

Extra officers are out on patrol in the area to offer reassurance to residents.
