Burglaries to golf clubs

Police are appealing for witnesses following a spate of overnight break-ins to golf clubs in South Tyneside.

Offenders have been targeting tools kept in out-houses and sheds belonging to two golf clubs. Thieves have made off with thousands of pounds of tools. In the process of stealing items they also caused considerable damage to the sheds and outbuildings belonging to the clubs.

The first happened between 8.30am on Sunday, January 11, and  at 7am on Monday, January 12, at a shed belonging to Whitburn Golf Club on Lizard Lane.  Offenders forced their way in and stole; Husqvarna strimmer, Flymo and Allan lawn mower, generator, compressor, Dell lap-top, Stihl saw, battery booster, Dori scarifier and a Spalding socket set.

A second break-in happened at a large shed at Boldon Golf Club, Dipe Lane in East Boldon, between 8.30am on Sunday, January 18, and 7.15am on Monday, January 19. Again entry was forced and thieves stole; four strimmers, two rotavators, two generators, a large water pump, reciprocator, three squeegees, heater, diesel fuel, water pump and diesel tank gauge.
