Two arrested after cars stolen in burglary

Police have arrested two teenagers after a car was stolen in a Newcastle burglary.

It happened between 11pm and 7am overnight on Tuesday, January 27, into Wednesday, January 28, when it was reported car keys had been stolen during a burglary at a house at Cherryburn in Byker.

Two cars were then stolen from outside using the stolen keys - both vehicles have since been recovered.

Officers attended and two youths aged 16 and 15 have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and are currently in custody helping with enquiries.

Northumbria Police is currently running Operation Soundwave, aimed at tackling thefts and burglaries across the force and promoting crime prevention advice to residents.
