Pedestrian knocked down in Jesmond

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was knocked down in Jesmond.

At 2.55am on Sunday, February , police received a report that a pedestrian had been knocked over on the Great North Road, Jesmond about 100 metres south of the junction with Forsyth Road.

A grey Vauxhall Insignia was travelling north when it collided with the pedestrian. The pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was taken hospital and is receiving treatment for serious head injuries.

The road was closed for four hours to allow for collision investigation and vehicle recovery.

Police are carrying out enquiries into the crash and are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference 218 010215.
