Vehicles stolen in burglaries

Police are appealing for information after vehicles were stolen in burglaries in South Tyneside.

Between noon and 2pm on Thursday, January 1, a scooter was stolen from a garage at Nicholas Avenue in Whitburn. The bike is a 2007 green and brown Piaggio Vespa worth more than £2,000.

The following day, between 9.30pm and 11pm on Friday, January 2, a beige Nissan Qashqai was stolen from outside the same address.

It's believed to two burglaries are linked and police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who knows the whereabouts of the stolen vehicles to get in touch.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference 1168 02/01/15, or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The appeal comes during Northumbria Police's Operation Soundwave, aimed at tackling thefts and burglaries across the force and promoting crime prevention advice to residents.
