Shop robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a shop in North Tyneside.

It happened at just before 7am on Friday, February 6, at Diane's Newsagency, Angle Terrace in Wallsend.

A man entered the shop armed with what appears to be a handgun and demanded cash.  An undisclosed amount of cash was handed over and he left the shop with the cash in a small plastic bag.  The staff member was shocked but otherwise uninjured.

The offender is described as: a man, tall and slim build wearing a black balaclava over his face, yellow hooded with the hood up, blue jeans and dark footwear.

Police are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact them.
