Aggravated burglary in Ashington

Police are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary in Ashington.

The burglary happened at 8.46pm on Friday, February 6 when five masked men entered a house on Beatrice Street,  attacking the resident and causing damage to the inside of the house before making off by a back lane.

The resident is believed to have minor injuries.

One of the offenders is described as wearing blue tracksuit bottoms with a burgundy coloured scarf covering his face.

Detective Sergeant Peter Morgan said: "An investigation is underway to identify the people responsible and we are appealing for people to contact us if they saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at around the time of this incident.

"Local officers are in the area carrying out enquiries and offering reassurance to residents."
