Police are appealing for information after a car was broken into in Newcastle.

It happened at 3.30am in the early hours of Sunday, January 18, when the Citroen car was parked in the rear alley at the junction of Warwick Street and Stratford Road.

It's believed the suspect approached the insecure car on a bike from Warwick Street and stole CDs and a yellow jump start kit.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area or who has been offered the stolen jump start kit for sale or knows it whereabouts to get in touch.

The appeal comes during Northumbria Police's Operation Soundwave, aimed at tackling opportunist thieves and burglars across the force and promoting crime prevention advice.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference 851 18/01/15, or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
