Man suffers broken jaw in assault

Police are appealing for information following an assault in Gateshead.

It happened at 2am, on Friday, January 30, on grassed area at Woodwynd, on Leam Lane Estate.

The 28-year-old victim was making his way along the street when he was approached from behind by two men before being assaulted. He received a fractured jaw as a result of the attack for which he received hospital treatment.

The offenders are described as wearing dark hoodies and clothing.

Enquiries into the assault are continuing and police are keen to speak to any witnesses.
