Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision between a car and two pedestrians in Sunderland

It happened on St Mary's Way next to the junction of Back Bridges Street at 7pm on Tuesday,  January 27.  Two pedestrians, girls both aged 15,  were crossing the road from the Monkwearmouth Bridge to the city centre when they were struck by a car coming from the city centre travelling towards Hendon, they both fell to the ground suffering minor injuries.

The car is described a white Vauxhall Corsa type vehicle. The driver of the car stopped and spoke to the teenagers, asking if they needed help, before driving off.

Officers investigating the collision need to trace the driver of the car and are also appealing for witnesses to the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191 quoting log number 1000 of 27/01/15
