Man injured in Sunderland

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 28-year-old man was injured in Sunderland.

The man had been out for the evening and went to the Red Chilli fast food takeaway on Holmeside on Tuesday , February 10, at  approximately 2am where he was injured following an altercation between a group of men and when a window was damaged.

He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital by ambulance with a head injury where he is still receiving treatment in the ITU.  His condition is described as serious.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious  is asked to contact police.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and bailed pending further enquiries.
