Nuisance motorbike riders in South Tyneside are being warned police are cracking down on their anti-social behaviour.

Over the past few weeks police have seen a rise in off-road motorbikes being ridden irresponsibly and inconsiderately, causing a nuisance to local residents in Harton.

Officers are working with the local community to identify those responsible and curb the disorder.

Parents are also advised to only buy a motorbike for their children if they have access to land where the bike can be ridden legally - it is illegal for them to be ridden on any public road or land, including public parks.
