Police are appealing for witnesses following a two-vehicle crash in Newcastle.

At just before 7.05pm, on Wednesday, February 25, police received a report of a crash on Whickham View, close to the junction of Delaval Road.

Officers attended the scene of the crash, which involved a Citroen Picasso and a Honda Civic, along with the fire and ambulance service.

Four people from the vehicles were taken from the scene to the the RVI for treatment.

This includes a 38-year-old man, described as in a critical condition, and a 34-year-old man, described as in a stable condition, from the Honda.

A 57-year-old man and 55-year-old woman from the Citroen are also described as in a stable condition.

The road was closed for four-and-a-half hours to allow for investigations of the scene and diversions were put in place.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.

People can contact police on 101, extension 69191 quoting log number 1014 25/02/15.

As a result of enquiries, a 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the crash.
