Rogue trader incident in North Shields

Police are appealing for witnesses after a rogue trader incident in North Shields.

It happened on Friday, February 27, when a man knocked on the door of an elderly resident in Berwick Terrace, North Shields and offered to carry out roofing work. The occupant handed over money to the man and he left without doing the work.

He is described as a white man, of slim build and 5ft 7"tall . He spoke with a local accent and was wearing dark clothing.

Residents are advised to be on their guard to strangers calling at their door. If they are in any doubt they should close the door and ring police.
