It happened between 4pm on Wednesday, February 25, and 2am on Thursday, February 26, when seven parked vehicles had their tyres slashed in the car park of Adelaide House and Clennell House in Benwell.

Police are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact them.

Neighbourhood Inspector Barrie Joisce said: "We are carrying out enquiries into the damages, whoever has done this has upset a lot of people in the local area and leaving them hundreds of pounds out of pocket.

"We want to speak to anyone who has seen anybody suspicious in the areas where the damages took place, especially anyone seen hanging around cars.  I'd also ask residents to be vigilant and report anyone acting suspiciously around parked cars to us straight away.

"We have extra officers in the area carrying out patrols and speaking to local residents. I'd urge anyone with any information to speak to officers face to face or by ringing 101."

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, extension 69191, quoting log number 223 of 26/02/15 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
