Necklace stolen in burglary

Police have released an image of an item of jewellery stolen after an aggravated burglary in Newcastle.

It happened between 6.30pm and 7pm on Wednesday, March 11, at  an address in Lewis Drive.

Two masked men entered the property via an insecure window, they were armed with knives and threatened the occupants, a 56-year-old woman and 59-year-old man.

The two offenders then let two other masked men into the house via the front door. The men stole an undisclosed amount of jewellery and made off in what is believed to be a black Vauxhall Zafira, which has been found left in Greywood Avenue, Fenham, on Thursday morning, March 12.

One of the items of jewellery stolen is the necklace shown in the photo.

The offenders are described as all dressed in black and wearing masks.

No one was injured during the incident, but the occupants were shocked.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and bailed pending further enquiries.
