This is an update regarding the investigation into potential fraud offences in relation to the 'South Shields day trips' Facebook page.
Police yesterday held a private meeting with customers at Chuter Ede School, in South Shields, to obtain further information on potential offences.
Over 100 people went along to the meeting and statements were taken from 104 victims. Officers were also able to give an update on the investigation.
Two people have now been arrested on suspicion of fraud - a 24-year-old woman and 32-year-old man. Both have been bailed pending further enquiries.
The company has also ceased operating.
Detective Inspector Paul Stewart, who is leading the investigation, said: "I'd like to thank everyone who attended this meeting which allowed us to gather more information plus give updates on where the investigation is currently at.
"Our investigation into all reports is continuing and we will keep victims updated as this progresses.
"Due to the volume of reports I'd once again ask for people's patience while we work through each one made to us.
"Anyone who hasn't yet come to us with information is encouraged to still do so."
People can contact police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference number 628 24/07/15.
