Aggravated burglary in Sunderland

Police are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary in Sunderland.

Officers were called to an address in Tilbury Road in Thorney Close at 7.28pm on Sunday, August 16. They found four people, two men and two women, had entered via an unlocked door and attacked two of the occupants with a hammer. They left in what is believed to be a silver BMW car parked nearby. Nothing is believed to have been stolen during the incident.

A man aged 30, and woman aged 26, were taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital with minor injuries where they were discharged following treatment.

House to house enquiries are being carried out .

Police are carrying out an investigation and additional officers are on patrol in the area to reassure the community.
