Police appeal after sexual assault in Byker

Police are appealing for help to locate a potential witness following an alleged sexual assault in Byker.

At 7.25pm on Sunday, August 30, officers received a report that a man had inappropriately touched two teenage girls in woodland area on Allendale Road in Byker.

Officers responded and arrested a 30-year-old male in connection with the incident. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

The two victims, who are in their early teens, told police that immediately after the incident they were given help by a woman who was walking her dog in the area.

She is described as being white, in her late 40s and with light brown shoulder length hair. She was wearing red trousers and a red jacket and was walking a small ginger coloured dog.

Officers want to speak to this woman as she may have information that could help with the investigation and are appealing for her to contact police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference number 1076 30/08/15.
