Police are warning people of the dangers of taking medication that is not prescribed to them after drugs were stolen from a car in Northumberland.

It happened after the car was left securely parked in North Seaton Road in Ashington between 2pm Thursday, August 27, and 4am on Monday, September 7. Thieves smashed a window to gain access and stole pain killers, sleeping tablets and anti-inflammatory tablets. Namely: Carbabazepine x 100, Paracetamol x 100, Pregabalin x 100, Imipramine x 100, Nefopam x 100, Bacfolen x 100 and Atorvastatin x 100

Some of the drugs have the potential to cause harm if taken by somebody it was not prescribed to and we are warning anyone who comes across them to be on guard.

If you do find the medication, or knows of its whereabouts, you should not take it but hand it in to police straight away.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference 181 07/09/15 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
