Church stained glass window and Holy Water font damaged in burglary

Police are appealing for information after a Church was broken into in Sunderland.

Between 11pm on Wednesday, September 9 and 9.30am Thursday, September 10 St Mary's Church in Bridge Street was broken into.

Nothing was stolen in the burglary, however, substantial damage was caused to a stained glass window. The Holy Water font was also damaged after the offenders urinated in it.

Officers are carrying out enquiries and appealing for witnesses.
