Hit and run collision in Newbiggin by the Sea

Police are appealing for information after a collision involving two cars in Newbiggin by the Sea.

At 7.14pm on Friday, January 8, Police received a report of a collision involving two cars, a Toyota Celica and a Vauxhall Corsa, on B1334, Newbiggin Road, at the junction with Sandy Bay Caravan Park, North Seaton in Northumberland.

Emergency services attended and the driver in one of the cars, a man in his 20s, was taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington for treatment suffering a broken ankle. 

The driver of the Toyota Celica did not remain at the scene and it is believed that they were transported from the scene in a dark coloured Ford Focus motor vehicle.  Police are interested to speak with anyone who may have information to identify the driver of the Toyota Celica and the Ford Focus present at the scene.

Enquiries into the collision are on-going and anyone who has information to help is asked to contact police.
