A man has been jailed after a woman was robbed in South Shields.
On Saturday, July 25, a 63-year-old woman was robbed in Reynolds Avenue in South Shields. During the robbery she was dragged into a wall and her bag stolen. She suffered moderate injuries as a result of the incident.
Enquiries were carried out and Neil Daniel Mckay, 45 of Turner Avenue in South Shields was arrested. He was subsequently charged with robbery.
Mckay appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on Monday January 11 and was given a 30 months sentence.
T/Supt Sarah Pitt said: "Mckay targeted his victim in broad daylight causing her to not only be shaken by the incident but suffer physical injuries and while these could have been much worse we simple will not tolerate people like this causing harm in our communities. I'm pleased he will now spend time in prison for his actions."
