Appeal after Woolsington Hall arson

Police are appealing for information after an arson attack caused millions of pounds of damage to a building in Newcastle.

Sometime between 6pm and 8pm on Tuesday, December 29, someone set fire to the derelict Woolsington Hall building.

The offenders set multiple fires inside the building which caused it to be completely destroyed.

Officers believe the fires were started maliciously and are investigating the incident as arson.

Inspector Julie Rana said: "We are appealing for anyone who might have seen any suspicious people or vehicles in the areas around Woolsington Hall on that Tuesday evening. Whoever has done this has caused millions of pounds worth of damage and has completely destroyed the building. We are carrying out enquiries and would be interested in hearing from anyone who has any information that could help us."

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 1174 29/12/15.
